In addition to the diagnostic materials available in German-speaking countries to date, the fractions interview is a semi-standardised, material-based diagnostic procedure. It is based on the "Fractions and Decimals Online Interview", which was designed in 2004/05 as part of a numeracy project by Doug Clarke, Anne Roche and Annie Mitchell from the Australian Catholic University in Melbourne and further developed into the current version in collaboration with Birte Specht. The aim of the interview is to individually ascertain and understand what a pupil does not (yet) understand (can, knows). Specific questions are encouraged in order to understand exactly how the pupils think and what their misconceptions or misunderstandings are. So far, the interview guide and the interview protocol are available for download in German translation. Templates for the necessary material are also available.
